Sojourn Earrings
These wonderful hand wrought beads are from the Tuareg tribe in Africa, known around the globe for their skill in jewelry making. The beads on these earrings are hand-made from authentic Tuareg silver, which is an alloy of silver and copper. The Tuareg are a nomadic people of Niger and surrounding countries. The Tuareg people in Mali and Niger were devastated by droughts and then flooding in late 2005 and immense losses have destroyed their way of life. The once proud culture is only a shadow of itself. These simplistic and rustic beads have African Silver spacers and heishi on each side of them and hang on hand forged Sterling Silver earwires. The African Traders are having to go deeper and deeper into Africa to find more of these beads and many styles which were readily available just 5 years ago are no longer seen today. Please expect some irregularity in the size and shape of these beads, as they are all hand made and traditionally somewhat rustic in nature. Also some chips and pitting are to be expected due to the age of these beads and the many miles they’ve travelled. Length--1 1/4 inch drop.
