Mana Earrings
These organic and intriguing earrings are great fun to wear. Mana is a hawaiian word meaning divine & miraculous power. The focal is a 1 1/4 inch textured Shibuichi dangle. Dangling with it are vibrant rondelles of Apatite, a gorgeous nugget of Chrysocolla and a tiny antiqued brass dragonfly charm. All hang from sterling silver earwires. Shibuichi means "one-fourth" in Japanese and indicates the standard formulation of one part silver to three parts copper, though this may be varied according to the desired effect and each artisan working with it has their own recipe they prefer to work with. However, as the pure hues of the patina are generated by copper oxides and greyed down by silver oxide, the proportion of silver should never exceed that of copper. The coloring goes from pale peach, to cherry reds, to mahogany browns, to gray silvers and is a beautiful material to work with.
