This piece has been oxidized to give it an aged appearance.

King Beads are wonderful old Venetian wound bicone beads. The stories told are that these were worn by African Chiefs. King beads come in a large variety of colors, trailing designs and sizes but are always in a bicone shape. King beads are highly collectable and most of the beads found today are from the mid 1800’s to the early 1900’s. This is a stunning group of these rare beads with lots of gorgeous color!

Although millefiori beads have been made back to the 15th century, they appear not to have been made in great quantity until early in the nineteenth century. Most of the beads in circulation today are from the early decades of the twentieth century. In Venice, where they were made, they are known as MOSAIC beads, and millefiori means a thousand flowers. The making of a millifiori bead actually involves two different craftspeople. The first step, the making of the cane, is done in a glass factory. The mosaic slices or chips of this cane, called murrine, are then sold to the beadmaker, who places the chips onto a wound glass core. Sometimes only a few chips are places, or the bead can be covered. There are thousands of different designs of millefiori beads.

Copper is an excellent energy conductor and sends and amplifies thoughts. It can open the heart center and thereby create total awareness of the self and generate a capacity for tremendous psycho-spiritual self-confidence and growth. Physiologically it is believed that Copper helps all forms of rheumatism, arthritis, and disorders of the intestinal tract. Copper also strengthens the Pineal and Pituitary glands and increases flexibility of bone tissue such as ligaments, cartilages, and tendons. This can aid in the prevention of injury for those who are athletes. Energetically speaking, Copper is highly conductive and also activates the body’s electro-magnetic properties and sends and amplifies thoughts. Copper’s conductive energies are at the heart of it’s power, both physically and spiritually. Because this crystal metal doesn’t hold a charge, but instead, sends or conducts it on, it is a very useful for projecting and directing energy and healing work.

Today these trade beads are more popular and collectable than ever. Thousands of these beads are in private collections around the world. The African Traders are having to go deeper and deeper into Africa to find more of these beads and many styles which were readily available just 5 years ago are no longer seen today. The clasp is hand formed and hammered silver. A great piece of history and collectible old beads!

Bangles are worn by people around the world and are simply a less flexible piece of jewelry worn around the wrist. In many cultures, especially in the Arabian Peninsula and in South Asia, bangles have evolved into various types for different occasions. Bangles are part of traditional Indian jewelry and are usually worn in pairs, one or more on each arm. They are made of numerous precious as well as non-precious materials such as gold, silver, copper and bronze. Most Indian women prefer wearing either gold or glass bangles or both in combination. These bangles are made with a heavy 12 gauge silver and have some flexibility but are very stable. Once you’ve worn bangles it’s hard to go back to a regular bracelet. They’re incredibly comfortable and I rarely leave the house with less than two of them on my wrist and often I wear 3 at a time!

Fits wrist sizes 6-7 inches.
